VAN BUUREN, FOTOGRAFO ACROBATA SCATTA CLICK A 360 GRADI

Fotografare a 70 metri d’altezza. È questa la stravagante idea dell’artista olandese Wouter Van Buuren, creando delle foto a 360°.
Sale su gru, ponti, grattacieli e tralicci dell’elettricità da ben sette anni. «I tralicci dell’elettricità sono decisamente la mia struttura preferita sulla quale arrampicarmi. Amo la loro trasparenza, ammette lo stesso Van Buuren». Realizza veri e propri collage di foto, utilizzando più di 100 foto per composizionee riesce a cogliere la completezza di un paesaggio.

L’ultima esposizione ha avuto luogo al museo Witzenhausen di Amsterdam, conclusasi lo scorso 4 febbraio. L’intenzione del fotografo è quella di donare allo spettatore una nuova percezione dello spazio. È stato valutato negativamente perché i critici osservando le sue immagini, le avrebbero associate alle mappe di Google, attraverso le quali, zoomando si “atterra” fino alle strade desiderate. In realtà, se si analizzano le sue composizioni, si può sentire il brivido dietro la schiena, l’adrenalina che attraversa il corpo come se veramente ci si trovasse a quelle altezze. Ha catturato attimi di vita in Cina, New York e Paesi Bassi.

Sono emozioni forti quelle che emanano le opere di Mr. Van Buuren, dove psicologia e fotografia si fondono in quel che Sigmund Freud ha definito come “thanatos”, l’istinto della morte. L’artista esce dagli studi fotografici e si butta nel mondo. Con libertà e perché no, gesta eroiche, Wouter Van Buuren studia lo spazio, abbatte le distanze e riesce a catturare dei veri e propri “globi”.

COREY ARNOLD'S WOLF TIDE

Corey Arnold's Wolf Tide opened this past Saturday at Richard Heller Gallery in Santa Monica. No doubt it opened to a full house. Corey's photographs catch a side of commercial fishing that the closest we'll ever get to is on The Deadliest Catch -- which funny enough he was on.
Corey's photographs capture beauty in his everyday world. His photographs are crisp and clear and you can almost feel the ocean air in them. I love the the way in which he captures his friends and animals. So touching with a touch of hilarity and sweetness.

DALLA RUSSIA ANALOGICAMENTE: YULIA KAZBAN

Classe 1983, l’artista in questione trova i natali a Sumy in Ucraina, ma nella prima parte delle sua vita vive in Russia dove si laurea in biologia.
La sua passione però è antecedente e nasce grazie ad una fotografia di gruppo.
Totalmente indifferente al mondo digitale, Yulia Kazban, continua ad immortalare, con vecchie macchine analogiche, un mondo a lei caro, attraverso le stampe rigorosamente fatte a mano.
Sembra rappresentare una dimensione d’altri tempi.





Tu e la fotografia, a quando il primo approccio? Il momento fatidico avvenne nella mia infanzia quando la mia famiglia mi chiese di schiacciare il pulsante di scatto durante una fotografia di gruppo. Fotografo seriamente dal 2007.





Qual è il mondo che osservi attraverso la tua macchina? Qualcosa che è in continuo movimento, qualcosa che appena comprendo si trasforma nuovamente, ovviamente qualcosa che appartiene al mio io.
Non cerco di analizzare ciò che è nel mio cuore, non ne ho bisogno, lo conosco più che bene.





Analogico o digitale? Sempre e solo analogico. Non mi sento digitale, non posso. Adoro guardare le strisce dei negativi, sentire il profumo della pellicola e le stampe fatte a mano, ecco le mani, é tutto racchiuso in esse, è un mondo avvolgente e familiare.





Dove trai ispirazione? Ovunque.
Posso trovarla in fotografie, canzoni, libri, film oppure in una mattina, nella pioggia, nel sole e nel vento, nel ghiaccio e la lista potrebbe essere infinita, cose semplici. Questo è Dio.
Il mezzo che ti permette si esprimere te stessa.
Sono un’amante delle Olympus, la mia fedele compagna è una Pen Vesna 1959.





Un fotografo a cui ti senti legata La mia scelta cade sicuramente su Masao Yamamoto.




Un luogo, un libro e una canzone. La casa di mia nonna 20 anni fa.
Direttamente dalla letteratura russa Sasha Sokolov La scuola degli sciocchi è molto personale, si sente che viene dall’anima, racchiude tristezza e calorosità, mi riguarda parecchio.
Per quanto riguarda le canzoni sarebbero troppe da elencare perciò taglio la testa al toro e dico Piobmx degli Autechre.

MALAYSIA: THAIPUSAM, A CELEBRATION FOR LORD MURUGAN

Thaipusam is the biggest annual Hindu festival in Malaysia, celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai. Pusam refers to a star that is at its highest point during the festival. The festival commemorates both the birthday of Lord Murugan, the youngest son of Shiva and Parvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (lance) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman.
The celebration is held in Batu Caves Temple, Kuala Lumpur. This ritual attended by millions of devotees from around Malaysia and some from abroad countries.

Devotees prepare for the celebration by cleansing themselves through prayer and fasting. On the day of the festival, devotees will shave their heads undertake a pilgrimage along a set route while engaging in various acts of devotion, notably carrying various types of kavadi (burdens).

Many of them believes when being possessed by the Lord of Murugan they feel painless of anything. They are obligated to present pots of fresh milk as special offerings for Lord Murugan, the milk later will be poured on the sacred spear of Lord Murugan.

Even today, the enlightened nations of the World continue to fall on their faces in worshipful praise of Japan, especially for having had such a wonderful cultural heritage of high moral achievement, while buying Hello Kitty dolls dressed like prostitutes as gifts for their young daughters.
